Human Rights Council of India (HRCI) was founded by Hon. Shri Haji S. Shaikh, a dynamic and dedicated human rights activist and social worker. Under his leadership, HRCI was officially registered with the Central Government of India in 2013 (Regd. No. 239580/13) and has since grown into one of the country's most trusted platforms for human rights protection and promotion.

Vision & Leadership

Driven by the belief that every citizen deserves justice, dignity, and equal opportunity — regardless of caste, religion, or political affiliation — Hon. Shri Haji S. Shaikh has guided HRCI's work across legal aid, education, healthcare, women's empowerment, child welfare, and rural development.

Key Contributions

- Founded HRCI as a non-political, secular NGO dedicated to human rights, social justice, and the economic upliftment of the underprivileged.
- Built a nationwide network with offices across 27+ states and union territories, supported by 70,000+ members.
- Established a Free Legal Aid Cell at Dahisar, Mumbai, and across India, offering cost-free legal support to the poor, women, SC/ST communities, children, and labourers.
- Led national observances of International Youth Day, World Human Rights Day, World Women's Day, and World Press Freedom Day through seminars, conventions, and youth/judiciary camps.
- Recognised by government leaders and institutions for HRCI's contribution to human rights advocacy across India.

"When I founded the Human Rights Council of India in 2013, I had one simple belief — that justice should not depend on a person's caste, religion, political affiliation, or social status. It should be available to every citizen, simply because they are human.

Over the years, I have witnessed countless individuals — the poor, the oppressed, women, children, and the marginalized — silenced not because they lacked courage, but because they lacked a platform to be heard. HRCI was built to be that platform.

Today, with over 70,000 members and a presence across 27+ states, we have grown from a single resolve into a nationwide movement.
